How To Install Themes
Lets take a look at how we can change our theme in Ubuntu:
When we change a theme we change a few things in our Ubuntu environment. These changes will include how a folder is displayed on our desktop, application icons, window borders, and so on. There are a couple of different ways we can do this. First we can use the themes that already come installed in Ubuntu. There are not many choices, but we an still make a few changes that will effect the look of the OS. To change these themes will will have to open up our system menu and then preferences and choose themes located near the bottom. Once we have themes opened we are given a few choices. Just click on the theme you are interested in and it will show the changes that will be made. One can also create a custom theme in which you can choose to combine folder looks, application icons, border windows, and also highlighted colors. If you want a larger variety of themes to choose from there is a great sight called Gnome Art that that gives you a large variety of themes to choose from. You can also download them from synaptic, but the download is fairly big and you end up with a bunch of themes you will never use. I find it is better to go right to the sight and download only the themes that you are interested in. Save which ones you want in a specific folder that you can later install them from.
